Greiner Hall

Update as of: February 2010

Project Overview:
The new residence hall will be about a 198,500 GSF facility intended for sophomore students. It will be a 6 story structure located on the North Campus, adjacent to the existing Fargo building of the Ellicott Complex. The building will consist mainly of living suites, and will also contain a café, classrooms, and offices on the ground floor. The building is being planned in conjunction with the 2020 master plan and the Lee road extension. The building is an integral piece of the plan to connect the Ellicott Complex to the main campus. The design of the building shares ideas from the Universities master plan, including learning landscape, sustainability, and planning guidelines. The goal of this new building is to receive LEED Gold certification.

Current status:
The building is in the construction phase and is being managed by the Universities Residential Facilities and Facilities Planning and Design. Cannon Design is responsible for the design of the building and LP Ciminelli has been engaged as the construction manager. Foundations are 98% complete and structural steel and precast concrete framing is set to begin mid FEbruary 2010.  The new facility is targeted to complete construction and be available for occupancy for the fall semester of 2011.
