South Campus Child Care Center
South Campus Child Care Center
Update as of: June 9, 2010
Project Overview:
UB provides Child Care Services on the North and South Campus. UB’s friends Bethel Head Start and Summit programs also occupy space in the South Campus facility. This project consists of upgrading the infrastructure of the South Campus (Butler Annex A & B) facility, including but not limited to: replacing windows, replacing the exterior skin with new insulated panels, replacing the roofs, upgrading fire alarm and electrical systems, abatement, creating accessible toilets, creating new entries and a connector between the two buildings. In order to complete the South Campus project and to accommodate the Child Care Services on campus, additional facilities will be created adjacent to the existing building on the North Campus. The South Campus children will reside on the North Campus during construction on the South Campus facility. Once the construction on the South Campus is complete, children will move back to the South Campus facility and the temporary facilities on the North Campus will remain for a few years to accommodate the growth and wait list.
Current status:
The project is in the Construction and is being managed locally by University Facilities Planning and Design staff. The construction contract was awarded to BRD, Inc. and Kideney Architects is the design consultant. Currently the North Campus Childcare Center Addition was completed in July 2009. At the completion of the North Campus addition; the South Campus occupants were relocated to the North Campus facility to accommodate the South Campus renovation. The South Campus facility is now under construction and anticipated completion is the end of May 2010. Upon Completion, the temporary North Campus occupants will move back to the renovated South Campus Childcare Center and minor renovations will be made to the North Campus building to complete the project.
