FUNCTION 

The building was constructed in 1906 by the Federal government. After application and competition the Research Institute on Alcoholism for the Department of Mental Hygiene was given possession of the building in November of 1972. In 1992 the Research Institute on Alcoholism and the Department of Substance Abuse were combined and are the current occupants. In 1999 the RIOA became part of UB. The building is now known as the Research Institute on Addictions.
